About the book

When cartographer Mara Voss inherits a long-abandoned cabin at the edge of the Faith Forest, she expects only silence and solitude. Instead, she finds a woodland that breathes with memory.

As Mara maps the forest's impossible geography, she uncovers a hidden covenant linking her family to the land. To save the woods from a final, creeping darkness, she must decide what she is willing to forget — and what she will fight to remember.

“The forest did not ask for faith. It simply waited, as forests do, for the moment when a person grew quiet enough to hear what the roots had been saying all along.”

— Chapter One, “The Cartographer’s Inheritance”
Elias Thorne, author of The Faith Forest

About the author

Elias Thorne grew up between the coastal redwoods of Northern California and the rain-soaked forests of the Pacific Northwest. His work blends mythic landscape with intimate family drama, asking how the places we love shape the stories we tell about ourselves.

The Faith Forest is his fourth novel. He lives with his family in a small town surrounded by oak and madrone, where he is currently at work on his next book.

Early praise

A deeply moving meditation on grief and the landscapes that outlive us. Thorne writes like the forest itself — patient, knowing, and quietly luminous.

The New York Times Book Review

The Faith Forest is the kind of novel you enter and never quite leave. Its magic feels earned, ancient, and true.

NPR

A masterclass in atmosphere. Every page rustles with secrets. I loved it.
